Component 2 Edexcel Music Technology

Sequencing, Sampling, Synthesis & Composition

Component 2 of the Edexcel A Level Music Technology course involves coursework, where students create a original musical composition using one of three briefs given by Edexcel.

This composition should demonstrate the student’s understanding of music production techniques, including sampling, synthesis and realtime effects.

Students are evaluated on their ability to effectively use music technology to produce an original composition, as well as their understanding of music production techniques and their ability to make creative and effective use of these techniques.

The coursework should also show evidence of the student’s musical creativity, musical understanding, and musical skills, and the ability to communicate musical ideas effectively through the use of music technology.

This composition will be completed on a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) such as Logic Pro X or Ableton.
