Step 1 – Kick drum. This a 4 to the floor kick drum. Use the EXS24 Single drums presets. Use compression.
Step 2 – Snare drum. EXS24 Acoustic drum bank. Use compression and EQ. Sample delay is useful for placing sounds in the stereo field. Use layering of timbres to create unique sounds. Be aware of the swing on one snare note.
Step 3 – Wood block. Use the Ultrabeat. Use the pitch function to pitch the woodblock to the track. Use reverb on a bus with a fairly long decay time. Use EQ to boost the highs of the reverb.
Step 4 – Maraca. Use the Ultrabeat and pitch the sound lower. Use EQ to cut the top end frequencies.
Step 5 – Reverse Hat. Use the Ultrabeat and use pitch to tune the sound and then use the reverse function.
Step 6 – Vinyl Scratch. Use the apple loops for this.
