Synthesis 101

In this tutorial, we will take a first look at subtractive synthesis. We will examine the basic controls and parameters of two of the main synths that are available in Logic X – The ES1 and ES2 synths.
The tutorial is designed to guide you through the first initial stages of designing a simple synth sound and looks at basic effects that can be added.
The tutorial make use of an old dance tune called ‘Zombie Nation’ by Kernkraft 400. It makes use of an old 8-bit synth called the SidStation which was a synth based on the old Commadore 64 computer system of the 1980’s.

After every section of the course you will you will be given a short quiz to enforce the important points of the demonstration. It is then up to you to go on and try and create a suitable synth sound for the track. Just follow the step by step instructions.
