Mixing for A level Music Technology – A Preparation Project

This guide is useful for STUDENTS who wish to gain understanding with help with the Component 1 coursework in the Edexcel A level in Music Technology.

This mixing assignment will consist of a series of tasks covering the process of how to approach and complete a successful mix.

Each element of the assignment will have, at the most, three tasks such as:

  1. Choosing and editing plugins such as Compressors and reverbs etc.
  2. Any audio editing procedures and techniques needed for the different elements in the mix
  3. The relevant mix techniques and procedures needed to create a competent mix.
  4. Any other relevant information.

The DAW used for the tutorial will be Logic Pro X 10.5

The assignment will be supplemented by videos explaining the tasks more clearly and in more depth. The will also be a logic arrangement of a completed mix for reference (FOR TEACHERS)

The guide consists of a PDF outlining the different tasks, several videos that go through the mixing process step by step, a reference logic project and all the audio the students need to complete the preparation project
